DC Volunteer Lawyers Project: information on pro bono opportunities

The DC Volunteer Lawyers Project invites you to a brown bag lunch discussion of pro bono opportunities with our organization. Volunteer lawyers may represent domestic violence survivors in short-term protection order cases, which last just two weeks; or in longer-term custody/divorce and/or immigration matters. Volunteers may also serve as court-appointed Guardians ad litem, representing the best interests of at-risk children in custody cases.

For all volunteers, DCVLP offers free training programs, live or online, as well as malpractice coverage and administrative support. DCVLP enters an appearance as co-counsel in every case, and one of our staff attorneys accompanies volunteer lawyers to court appearances. Family law experience and DC Bar membership are NOT required.
