The Housing Crisis from the Inside: Guided Tour of DC Superior Court's Landlord-Tenant Branch

Sponsored by Neighborhood Legal Services Program and
The Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia

Anyone who follows the local news knows that access to affordable, quality housing is a huge issue in DC. Lawyers who practice in this area also know that this is one of the most significant access to justice issues in DC.

Join us to learn more by observing Roll Call in the DC Superior Court's Landlord and Tenant Branch with experienced housing lawyers, who will give you a tour and answer questions about housing law practice. Following Roll Call (the Court's daily calendar call for initial hearings), we'll have a short discussion to help attendees put their observations in the larger context of access to justice for DC residents. This is guaranteed to be an eye-opening experience.

If you want to find out about joining other pro bono attorneys who are helping low-income individuals and families assert their tenants' rights and remain in their homes, please join us. This is a fantastic opportunity to get an inside perspective on what goes on in this fast-paced, high-volume court.

Pre-registration is required because space is limited to 15 participants. To be eligible to attend, participants must be members of the DC Bar (or awaiting admission), government attorneys or law students. Please note, however, that lawyers currently eligible to practice in the DC Courts will be given priority. To RSVP to attend, please e-mail Jodi Feldman.
