What is the NALP/PSJD Public Service Mini Conference?

Participate in this ideal opportunity to meet and network with colleagues from across the country, attend substantive and skills-based programs, and interact with NALP staff members! The Mini-Conference's morning programs will include introductions, a plenary program, and an update on staff-driven initiatives. Our luncheon will feature an announcement of the PSJD Pro Bono Publico award recipient, which is a student who has performed exemplary public service during her/his law school career, and an opportunity to spend time with your colleagues. Our afternoon sessions will include a town-hall style meeting of NALP's Public Service Section and three breakout sessions followed by a legal recruiter reception.

Mini-Conference Programming

Our plenary program this year will discuss diversity. Afternoon programming will include three exciting breakout sessions:

Two-Year Fellowship Programs: JD Fellowships beyond the "Big 2"
Behavioral Interviewing: How to Prepare Students and Evaluate Their Responses
Best Practices for Law Student Pro Bono: the CLEA Chapter & More

Public Interest Advising 101

This year's Mini-Conference events will once again include the popular "Public Interest Advising 101" session for newcomers. This session, hosted at the Georgetown University Law Center, will take place on the day before the Mini-Conference,Wednesday, October 23, from 3:30-5:30pm. Public Interest Advising 101 is a highly useful introduction for newcomers to the field and for more experienced professionals who have recently added public interest advising to their portfolios.

Round-Robin Networking Dinner

Following the Public Interest Advising 101 program, all Mini-Conference and 101 attendees are invited to join up for a "Round-Robin Networking Dinner" at 6:30pm on Wednesday. This pay-your-own-way event provides an informal opportunity to share a meal with colleagues old and new. And we'll pick the restaurants and make the reservations for you!

The Mini-Conference, NALP's premier public interest event, is a great opportunity to spend time with friends and colleagues during the Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair weekend, and offers wonderful programming that will benefit both veteran public interest career professionals and newcomers alike. We look forward to seeing you this fall!
