Legal Aid's Pro Bono Program regularly refers out Social Security disability benefits cases to pro bono counsel. These cases involve representing individuals, who are no longer able to work due to serious physical and/or mental health conditions, in appealing the denial of disability benefits.

Social Security disability benefits help claimants and their families pay for basic expenses, such as shelter, food, and transportation. Moreover, eligibility for these programs can be tied to eligibility for Medicaid and Medicare, crucial programs for helping people with serious health conditions access necessary medical care. Securing benefits can be life-changing for individuals who have, in most cases, been surviving on very little to no income while navigating their way through a lengthy appeals process.

Pro bono attorneys can make a critical difference helping claimants obtain the benefits they need to make ends meet - and to which they are legally entitled.

Please join us on Tuesday, September 28, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, for a special training webinar to learn more about Social Security disability cases and how you can help.
