Our next Dinner & Discussion honors Women's History Month with a conversation with two of DC's legal luminaries - Patty Mullahy Fugere and Katherine S. "Shelley" Broderick.

Soft-spoken but fierce in pursuing justice, Patty Mullahy Fugere is a force in the legal community. Patty has served as Executive Director of Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless for over 26 years, and she fights hard for her clients. She also sits on the DC Access to Justice Commission, the Steering Committee of the Fair Budget Coalition, and the advisory board of the DC Fiscal Policy Institute. She serves on the boards of the Homeless Children's Platyime Project and NETWORK Advocates and NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice. She helped create the DC Consortium of Legal Providers Community Listening Project. And she co-teaches a course on homelessness, poverty, and legal advocacy at Georgetown Law.

Shelley Broderick was appointed Dean of the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law in August of 1999, having previously served as Interim Dean, Clinical Director, Associate Dean and faculty member since 1979. In 2011, she was named the Joseph L. Rauh, Jr. Chair of Social Justice. She is a founder and ardent participant in the D.C. Consortium of Legal Services Providers, sits on the DC Access to Justice Commission, and serves on the Board of D.C. Appleseed. She also hosts Sound Advice, a UDC cable television show which provides information about legal issues affecting the District's most vulnerable residents. Dean Broderick is a past president and served on the Board of the American Civil Liberties Union of the Nation's Capital for many years. She continues to serve on the Litigation Screening Committee and on the Nominations Committee.

Patty and Shelley will discuss their career paths, what passions brought them to the law, and what they see as the future of the legal profession and the delivery of legal services to the poor.
