Public Benefits Training Series: Immigrant Eligibility for Public Benefits

Eligibility for public benefits for non-citizens is complicated. Allison Miles-Lee (Bread for the City) and Laurie Ball Cooper (Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia) will provide an introductory overview of immigrant eligibility for DC and federal public benefit programs. Cori Alonso-Yoder (Whitman-Walker Health), an experienced immigration attorney, will provide an overview of common immigration statuses for D.C. area residents and the public charge ground of inadmissibility. Presenters will also discuss immigration status and eligibility for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.
