You have probably been following the recent stories in the Washington Post highlighting the serious problems with the District's tax lien sales. In response, the DC Council has passed emergency, temporary legislation, and the Mayor has canceled the 2013 sale for some property owners. There is also permanent legislation pending before the Council, with a hearing scheduled for October 17th. This hearing provides an opportunity for significant, lasting reform of DC's broken tax sale system.
