"Crossing the Border: The Role of Courts in Immigration Law" is a free program to be presented by the ABA Standing Committee for Federal Judicial Improvements, the Criminal Justice Section, and the Commission on Immigration. The program will take place on Tuesday, May 14, from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson LLP (801 17th Street NW).

The program features two panel discussions bookended by opening remarks by Judge Norma Shapiro of the US District Court in Philadelphia and closing remarks by Judge Robert Katzmann of the Second Circuit. The two panels will address the intersection of criminal and immigration law post-Padilla and Chaidez, and state and local enforcement issues one year after the Supreme Court's decision in the Arizona case. A reception will follow after the program.
