LawHelp Interactive Resource Center

With funding from the Legal Services Corporation, (LSC), Pro Bono Net (PBN) and Ohio State Legal Services (OSLSA) offer online form developer training each year.  The next live training to learn how to create online forms powered by LHI is planned for Portland, in coordination with the LSC's Innovations in Technology Conference in January 2020. The LHI training will start on Monday January 13, 2020 to Tuesday 14, 2020.

Registration is now open for LSC’s Innovations in Technology Conference taking place January 15-17, 2020 in Portland, Oregon.

The trainers include Capstone Practice SystemsCenter for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI), and PBN's LawHelp Interactive (LHI) staff

Course Overview

We plan to do two types of trainings in Portland. We will be holding a 2 day beginner training (January 13-14, 2019) and then Advanced training on January 14, 2019  (one day only). We prefer that students commit to one track--since space is limited.

The beginner training covers how to use HotDocs and A2J Author 6.0 to create basic online forms powered by LawHelp Interactive and the new DAT feature of A2J Author.  Participants will be asked to come with laptops with software already installed, and will be given excercises to complete before the training. You will learn the core skills you need to create a simple form. We will use a divorce form as the example and for homework.

The advanced training will cover additional advanced capacity in LHI, including LHI-Connect, LHI Efiling, LHI integrations with case management systems, and based on a survey that will be send to registrants to gather input on advanced form design skills participants want to learn more about for both HD and A2J Author 6/DAT.

A sample training agenda from the beginner's 2018 online training series can be found here (requires password).

We  will post the agenda and detailed information after 1/2/2020. That information will include the room numbers for both tracks

The next training will be a remote training series in the Fall of 2020. Outreach will be shared through the lists in late July 2020. You can watch the 2018 series, which is complete. To complete the series on your own you will need between 25-30 hours, with about 4 to 6 hours on average per week including watching the training videos and doing the homework.
