9:00 - 9:50 am: Ethics in Our New World Practice of Law, Attorney Dean Dietrich - Weld Riley
This presentation will focus on ethical considerations as the practice of law evolves into a new normal.  Topics will include a discussion about the use of technology, the duty of confidentiality and the use of social media in everyday law practices.  The presenter is a long-time member of the State Bar Committee on Professional Ethics and speaks frequently regarding ethical issues faced by lawyers in all types of practices.  The presenter will offer his observations regarding the relevancy of the Rules of Professional Conduct in the "new normal" of the practice of law.

10:00 - 10:50 am: What is Indian Country?, Honorable Gwendolyn Topping - Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa
This session will focus on treaty history and how it has brought tribal courts to where they are today.

Honorable Gwendolyn Topping is an Associate Judge with the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, also an enrolled member.  She has been on the bench for five years; currently serves as the President of the Wisconsin Tribal Judges Association.  She has a B.S. in Broadfield Social Studies and an Associate’s Degree in Human Services.  Bringing a Healing to Wellness Court program to Red Cliff has been her goal since taking the bench.  With the Housing Stability Court program, the Tribe has gone above and beyond expectations in use of the Wellness Court Model.

This session will cover the ins and outs of practicing in Wisconsin's tribal courts.
