Support Center for Child Advocates logoThe Support Center for Child Advocates is holding a volunteer attorney training entitled How To Handle A Child Abuse Case Volunteer Attorney Training on October 26, 2021 and October 27, 2021. Sessions will be 8:30 AM-1:00 PM each day. ATTENDEES MUST ATTEND BOTH SESSIONS.

This training is the first step in becoming a Child Advocates Volunteer Attorney and becoming eligible to receive court appointments in Philadelphia Dependent Court.

All participants must attend both sessions. If you are not available for both sessions, please look out for more information about Child Advocates next training.

All participants must join the training on a device (computer, tablet, smartphone) with a working webcam. Chatting with potential new Volunteer Attorneys and those looking to take Dependent Court appointments is an important component of the training! To recreate this experience in a virtual setting cameras must be on during each training session.

Cost:

  • $90 for New Child Advocates Volunteer Attorneys
  • $120 for General Registration/Court Appointments

Fees are non-refundable and cover both sessions.

In addition to this training, anyone interested in practicing in Dependent Court must also attend courtroom observation. Courtroom observation sign-up information will be included in your materials.

Those wishing to become Child Advocates Volunteer Attorneys must also submit clearances (including Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, Pennsylvania ChildLine Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Criminal History Clearance). Click here for instructions.
