Please join the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center for the second event in our five-part Public Benefits Training Series: TANF/SNAP Session - Cash Assistance for Families in Need. This series is sponsored by the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia, Legal Counsel for the Elderly, Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, and Whitman-Walker Health.

This event consists of two parts: a pre-recorded training on TANF/SNAP Session and a live webinar to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the programs.

In the pre-recorded training video, Curt Campbell and Carolyn Rumer (both of the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia) will discuss two critical safety net benefits available to some District residents: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, also known as Food Stamps). In addition to tips on how to apply for TANF and/or SNAP, program rules, and how to escalate common issues your clients may face, Curt and Carolyn will also briefly discuss systemic policy issues related to both programs. Registrants will receive the training video and materials prior to the webinar date.

During the live webinar on October 6th, Carolyn and Marcia Hollingsworth (Legal Aid Society of D.C.) will discuss the impact of COVID-19 on TANF and SNAP benefits and answer questions from attendees.
