The D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center’s program specialist and intake staff invite you to participate in this skills-based training meant for non-attorney staff working directly with clients. The goal of the training is to increase awareness and knowledge of how an individual’s culture and experiences inform their interactions with other people, organizations, and/or the legal system.

The presenters will guide attendees through the very basics of culture, which go beyond race, ethnicity, or national origin. The training will then move into a discussion of implicit bias, and how attendees can identify and work through their own biases. To further inform the audience on the importance of cultural competency, the training will provide tips and best practices for working with clients during the intake process and beyond. The presenters will share their experiences and the skills they have acquired over the years to ensure clients share their stories in a respectful and informative manner. Come benefit from the experiences of our skilled faculty with over 30 years combined experience providing legal services.
