As part of National Celebrate Pro Bono Week, Equal Justice Wyoming, in partnership with the Wyoming State Bar, is pleased to invite you to attend five free CLE webinars. We will host a CLE over the lunch hour (12pm - 1pm MT) each day during Celebrate Pro Bono Week. We hope you will join us!

The objectives of this training are to: a) offer a basic understanding of jurisdictional requirements for divorce, property distribution, child support, and child custody; and b) provide a general overview of applicable statutes, pretrial procedures, and case law.

Presenter: Dona Playton, Associate Professor of Law, Director of the Family and Child Legal Advocacy Clinic

Speaker Bio:

Dona Playton began teaching at the College of Law in 1999 and created the course on Domestic Violence and the Law and later the course on Children and the Law. In addition, she teaches Family Law and has taught Civil Pretrial Litigation. In 2017 she left and worked for a year at the University of Denver as the Director of the Honoring Families Initiative, engaging in research, advocacy and national collaboration efforts to promote improved access to the legal system for families experiencing divorce, separation, and child custody issues.

She is the founder and Faculty Director of the Family and Child Legal Advocacy Clinic and has contributed extensively to local and state policy on issues ranging from domestic violence, family law, juvenile law, and access to justice issues. She is the author of a domestic violence bench book, a legal handbook for women, and several articles and papers on issues relevant to families and our legal system.

She is a member of the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, American Bar Foundation, the Wyoming State Bar and Colorado Bar Associations. She serves as an original member on the Wyoming Access to Justice Commission, the Childrens Justice Project, is a trained mediator, and a Certified Child Welfare Law Specialist.
