This course will be a discussion on how to navigate the steps to obtain, in a pro bono capacity, domestic violence and stalking protection orders including preparation of forms for Court, working with your local advocate agency and victims of domestic violence, and representing victim clients at hearing.

Speaker Bios:

Kay McKim grew up in Torrington and graduated from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 1986. Ms. McKim spent 15 years practicing civil litigation in Colorado before temporarily leaving the practice of law to pursue a teaching degree and volunteer opportunities in other states and overseas. Ms. McKim, and her husband, Brad, happily returned to Wyoming in 2015, where Ms. McKim has returned to a part time pro bono practice in Crook County with the assistance of Equal Justice Wyoming.

Sandra Stevens has been in the Domestic Violence field for over 19 years and has been the Executive Director of CCFVSAS since 2005. To date, Ms. Stevens has worked with over 1,000 victims. Ms. Stevens has been endorsed as an expert witness in the areas of domestic violence, including perpetrator and victim behaviors. Ms. Stevens also teaches courses at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy on Domestic Violence, Family Violence Protection Orders, and Stalking Orders of Protection. Ms. Stevens also serves on the Department of Family Services Advisory Council, the Wyoming Human Trafficking Task Force Team, and serves on The Wyoming Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Board of Directors.
