Since COVID-19 took hold earlier this year, there have been three different Executive Orders limiting evictions (unlawful detainers) in MN along with two federal prohibitions. The rules are both complicated and shifting quickly.

This 90-minute webinar will offer updates on the current law concerning evictions in Minnesota along with a look back at the number of evictions filed since the pandemic began, focusing on what exceptions landlords have relied upon to file. We’ll discuss what types of evictions have been successful and which have not.

The webinar is hosted by HOME Line, a non-profit focused on tenant’s rights, featuring a free tenant hotline that advises roughly 15,000 MN renters annually.

HOME Line Housing Attorney Andrea Palumbo will discuss the evictions filed since the pandemic. Andrea has worked with HOME Line since early 2019 and has focused on eviction prevention work, advising over 1,200 Minnesota tenants on evictions in the last two years. Joining Andrea will be third-year U of M law student Leah DeGrazia, a fellow with the Saeks Public Interest Residency Program, who has helped research these cases. She began working with HOME Line this summer, shortly after the pandemic began.

Covering the latest updates on landlord/tenant COVID-19-related rules and moderating the discussion will be Managing Attorney Michael Vraa. Mike has worked exclusively in MN landlord-tenant law since 1996 and has personally advised over 36,000 MN renters. He has also given more than 40 presentations on COVID-19-related MN landlord/tenant legal issues since the pandemic began, talking to over 2,300 attendees.
