A free two-part virtual 5 credit CLE series, "Unique Aspects of Military Divorce & Ancillary Issues" was offered to volunteer attorneys during the National Pro Bono Celebration on October 14 and October 28. This series was designed to recruit family law attorneys desiring to expand their practice to represent service members and their spouses. The series not only covers the unique issues and challenges presented within military divorces but also the complexities of pensions and the recent changes to the pension law. Each attorney attending must accept a pro bono family law case from the Rhode Island Bar Association's Volunteer Lawyer Program to complete the registration process. Unfortunately, there has been an increase in domestic violence issues during the pandemic and these family law cases are prioritized for placement with the attending volunteer base.

  • CLE Credit Comments: CLE credits are offered to members of the Rhode Island Bar Association's public services programs who agree to take a pro bono family law case.
