The Support Center for Child Advocates is holding a two-part virtual training program entitled How to Handle a Child Abuse Case on October 27 and October 28 from 8:30 AM-12:45 PM Eastern each day.

Join SCCA for this volunteer workshop and learn from dedicated experts in the field of child advocacy about how you can make a difference in the lives of children who have experienced abuse and neglect.

All participants must attend both sessions. If you are not available for both sessions, please look out for more information about the next scheduled training.

All participants must join the training on a device (computer, tablet, smartphone) with a working webcam. Chatting with potential new Volunteer Attorneys and those looking to take Dependent Court appointments is an important component of the training! To recreate this experience in a virtual setting cameras must be on during each training session.

This training is the first step in becoming a Child Advocates Volunteer Attorney and becoming eligible to receive court appointments in Philadelphia Dependent Court.

In addition to this training, anyone interested in practicing in Dependent Court must also attend courtroom observation. Courtroom observation details are to come.

Those wishing to become Child Advocates Volunteer Attorneys must also submit clearances (including Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, Pennsylvania ChildLine Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Criminal History Clearance).

Where: Online!

Cost:

  • $90 for New Child Advocates Volunteer Attorneys;
  • $120 for General Registration/Court Appointments.

Fees are non-refundable and cover both sessions.
