National Homelessness Law Center logoThe National Homelessness Law Center is hosting a webinar entitled Voting Rights for People Experiencing Homelessness During the COVID-19 Crisis on September 23, 2020 from 2:00 PM-3:30 PM.

As citizens of this country, participation in the electoral process is our primary method for voicing our concerns about the issues we hold dear, the conditions that impact us, and it is the way we challenge America to conform to its higher ideals expressed in the Constitution. Voting encompasses all of this. The vote gives us a voice.

People experiencing homelessness deserve the right to use their voice—unimpeded. Whether they have been living on public streets and shelters for a long period of time, or they are recently evicted from their homes due to the direct and collateral impacts of COVID-19, people experiencing homelessness’ living circumstances should not be used to bar them from weighing in on the issues that matter most to them. But misinformation and structural barriers may prevent this if we do not actively work to share people’s rights and ensure they can be enforced.

Join this discussion about the importance of helping people experiencing homelessness exercise their right to vote and learn about tools and resources to address those rights. This webinar will feature:

  • Carlton Martin, Pro Bono Manager, National Homelessness Law Center
  • Megan Hustings, Associate Director, The National Coalition for the Homeless
  • Ira J. Levy, Senior Partner, Goodwin Proctor LLP
  • James Davis, Speaker/Advocate, The National Coalition for the Homeless
