In honor of Latinx Heritage Month, the Thomson Reuters Institute is pleased to produce a four-part series on identity, inequality, and access to justice in contemporary American society. Our aim is to unite professionals, policymakers, academics and more for a series of earnest dialogues around the modern-day Latinx experience. Our second installment highlights access to education concerns for the Latinx community.

While Latinx make up over 18% of the US population and have experienced a recent uptick in representation within higher education, overall entrance and retention numbers for the community still pale in comparison to other groups.  With many being first in their families to attend college, there continues to be a lack of applicable support that would help provide a successful pathway into careers within professional service industries. Our session takes a concentrated look at both the continued barriers to educational access for those in the Latinx community, as well as the persistent challenges that burden the community in their progression from college to career.
