Full and equal access to justice is critical to a functioning criminal justice system. The South Carolina Victim Assistance Network's Reaching Rural Project is about ensuring that crime victims, including those in rural South Carolina, have access to justice including access to legal services. During this community conversation, we will discuss the Reaching Rural Project and how it fits within the national effort to increase access to justice for crime victims. Crime victim law experts will be on hand to provide an overview of South Carolina’s victims’ rights, focusing on collaboration among victims' attorneys, solicitors, and advocates. Attendees will dig into what it means for victims to have a meaningful role in criminal justice, focusing on the rights to confer and to privacy. Through interactive exercises and a facilitated community conversation we will identify fundamental skills legal professionals need to effectively support crime victims and how fighting for rights can make a difference in a survivor's life. This free webinar is approved for both CLE and VSP credit.
