DACA Renewal Training

As part of its DREAMer Pro Bono Project, ILCM trains and mentors attorneys to assist immigrant youth with their applications for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) benefits, as well as the renewal of those benefits. DACA is an immigration benefit that was announced by the Obama Administration in 2012. Under the program deferred action and temporary work authorization is offered to certain immigrant youth, often referred to as DREAMers, who have fulfilled certain educational requirements or served in the military, and met other specified conditions. DACA is renewable every two years.

This CLE will focus specifically on DACA Renewal applications. DACA Renewal cases generally take a new volunteer approximately 5 hours to complete. Attorneys will be trained on how to advise DACA clients regarding the potential risks and benefits of filing, as well as how to assist with the filing itself. Volunteers need an active attorney license, as well as a phone number and mailing address that can be used for case work.
