The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA): Constitutional and in the Best Interest of Indian Children
This presentation will review the U.S. Department of Interior Guidelines for Implementing the Indian Child Welfare Act and their interpretation of the federal regulations for the ICWA as well as providing a brief overview of recent ICWA cases.

Presenter’s Info:

Vivien Olsen,  Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, Mayetta
Vivien is the General Counsel for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and has worked in Indian law for over a decade. She was the Inspector General of the Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority for several years and has managed a private practice representing parents and children in child welfare cases as well as clients in areas of municipal, bankruptcy, real estate and family law. Vivien is a member serves on the Kansas Supreme Court Permanency Planning Task Force and is an officer of the Kansas Bar Association Indian Law Section.
