PILI’s Sixth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee is co-hosting this CLE program with the Decatur Bar Association to prepare attorneys to volunteer at PILI’s Self-Represented Litigant Help Desk in the Macon County Courthouse.

PILI’s Sixth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee recently launched a Self-Represented Litigant Help Desk in the Macon County Courthouse. The held desk is held in the Self-Help Center at the courthouse from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. twice each month on select Mondays and Wednesdays. The desk is staffed by volunteer attorneys who meet with eligible self-represented litigants for up to 30 minutes to provide them with legal advice subject to a limited scope representation agreement. PILI is seeking volunteers for dates now through December of 2019 and this CLE will provide an overview of some of the basic topics for which self-represented litigants are often seeking assistance at the help desk. Attendees will receive a Frequently Asked Questions document to better prepare them for the help that may be needed when the volunteer at the help desk. Lawyers who have volunteered at the help desk recently will also share their experiences.
