A Primer for Helping Those in Need of Legal Assistance

The Tenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee is offering this half-day CLE program at no cost for attorneys who will take on an additional pro bono matter in the coming year. This program is co-sponsored by the Peoria County Bar Association, Prairie State Legal Services and the Tazewell County Bar Association.

Welcome
“Preparing Wills & Powers of Attorney” – this session will have a special emphasis on training attorneys who will be volunteering at the Legal Help Within Reach clinic in East Peoria on on November 4th.
“Conflicted by Conflicts” – this session will review typical issues that attorneys face around the Rules of Professional Conduct relating to conflicts of interest, providing insight on spotting them and ensuring compliance with the rules.
“A Primer for Helping Those in Need of Legal Assistance” – this session will feature volunteers from PILI’s Self-Represented Litigant Help Desks in the Peoria and Tazewell County Courthouses who will prepare attorneys to volunteer at the help desks, including a review of frequently asked questions by help desk clients.

PILI has requested 3.0 hours of MCLE credit, including 0.5 hours of Professional Responsibility credit for this program
