D.C. Superior Court Tour

Topics:
  • Community Education/Outreach
  • Pro Bono

As part of Pro Bono Week, NVRDC is offering a tour of D.C. Superior Court. Attendees will learn about the Criminal, Domestic Violence, and Domestic Relations Divisions of the courthouse, including where pro bono attorneys can file documents and look up case information.  This experience is ideal for pro bono attorneys considering volunteering for cases involving intimate partner violence or other kinds of victimization, as it will showcase how survivors access Civil Protection Orders (CPOs) in DC and the areas of the courthouse visited most commonly by crime victims going through judicial processes as the complaining witness against their assailant.

Attorneys will learn more about what crime victims experience when involved in criminal proceedings and what rights are afforded to them. Don’t miss the chance to learn about the courthouse and its history from the perspective of those who have been working in it for years! NVRDC representatives also will discuss opportunities for accepting pro bono CPO and criminal cases through NVRDC.

Attendees should RSVP to charlotte@nvrdc.org by COB on October 17, 2018. Registrants will then receive additional details about where to meet. The tour is limited to 10 attendees.
