Representing Service Members and Veterans

FREE to ABA Members

This month's (November) ABA Free CLE Series webinar will provide an overview of the Department of Veterans Affairs and basic eligibility, initial application for benefits, and the initial appeals process. It will cover the initial application for benefits and what steps are involved in the initial appeals process. Learn the procedures for filing a claim and the structure of the administrative VA process.

Among other procedures, the panelists will discuss:

  • Disability benefits questionnaire
  • Fully developed claims
  • Notice of disagreement
  • Form 9

This is the first of a two-part program that will meet VA's requirements for accreditation to represent veterans in VA matters. The second program, which will be hosted by the Health Law Section and is not a part of the Free CLE Series, will occur early in 2017. If you wish to take part in both programs in order to be accredited by the VA, you must submit VA Form 21a prior to attending. For information about VA accreditation and to download VA Form 21a, visit www.va.gov/ogc/accreditation.asp.
