The NYU Latino Law Students Association invites you to join us and our distinguished guests in a panel discussion on the future of executive action on immigration. A reception with the panelists will follow. This panel will focus on the Supreme Court’s decision in US v. Texas, subsequent litigation, and the potential legal and policy solutions available to progressive leaders in immigration, at both the local and national level. With the fate of DACA and DAPA hanging in the balance as a new presidential election approaches, this panel promises a vibrant discussion on the future of these programs and the viability of immigration reform in the years to come. The panel will include:

  • Professor Adam B. Cox, Robert A. Kindler Professor of Law at New York University, a leading expert on immigration law, voting rights, and constitutional law
  • Maribel Hernandez, Executive Director of Legal Initiatives at NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs
  • Thomas Saenz, President and General Counsel, MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund) and Counsel of Record for three potential DAPA recipients in US v. Texas
  • Michael Wishnie, Deputy Dean for Experiential Education at Yale Law School and Counsel for Mr. Batalla Vidal in Batalla Vidal v. Baran, a challenge to the preliminary injunction to DAPA filed in Texas v. United States
