  • Community Education/Outreach

Two leaders from the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, Kyle Rapiñan and Stefanie Rivera, will join us to talk about their advocacy work on behalf of LGBTQ Youth. The Sylvia Rivera Law Project (SRLP) provides direct representation for low income transgender people and transgender people of color in three main areas: survival and self-determination, immigrant rights, and prisoner justice. Kyle is a Staff Attorney and Director of the Survival and Self-Determination Project with the Sylvia Rivera Law Project. Prior to joining SRLP, Kyle worked at the Legal Aid Society Criminal Defense Practice-Bronx, Peter Cicchino Youth Project of the Urban Justice Center, and the Legal Aid Society-Parole Revocation Defense Project. Stefanie, the Director of Client Services, is also one of the founders of the Prisoner Justice Project at SRLP and a founder of the group FIERCE (an LGBTQ Youth of Color group in NY).
