To respond to the access to justice crisis facing the legal system, the civil legal services community and the judiciary have partnered in the expansion of services based on limited scope representation. Various models, with many technology assisted interventions, are being developed and information tables, drop-in legal clinics, websites and help lines have expanded.

Limited Scope Representation 2016: Ethical & Practical Challenges will focus on how these models employ best practices to respond to common ethical issues and problems that arise.

Key Topics Will Include:

Ethical issues in limited scope representation, including competence, communications and the attorney-client relationship, candor before the tribunal, and conflicts

Responding to challenges in limited scope programs

Candor, including when a litigant either intentionally or negligently presents inaccurate information to a tribunal

Communication, including when a participant commits to following up with a litigant
