Many seriously ill individuals find themselves facing eviction as a consequence of financial instability resulting from their illness and often will require the assistance of a lawyer. This free webinar, which is the second in the VSB/CancerLINC pro bono webinar series and is co-sponsored by Central Virginia Legal Aid Society, will cover common legal issues encountered by volunteer lawyers handling housing law cases. It will focus on landlord-tenant issues, including an overview of the Virginia Landlord-Tenant Act, addressing landlord abuses , protecting against public utilities shut-offs, and spotting issues when defending against eviction . Marty Wegbreit, Director of Litigation with the Central Virginia Legal Aid Society will be the instructor for this webinar.

By registering for this free CLE program, attendees certify that, in exchange for the CLE credit (1.5 hours MCLE), they will accept a pro bono referral from or make a financial donation to CancerLINC , CVLAS, or their local legal aid organization.
