The American Bar Association Section of Litigation Children's Rights Litigation Committee, along with co-sponsor Juvenile Law Center, will host a series of FREE non-CLE teleconference programs focused on the issue of youth transitioning from foster care to adulthood. The focus of these discussions will be convening lawyers across the country to discuss what is currently happening and what needs to happen for this population to assure a successful transition. Practical issues like transition planning and whether the role of lawyers (and the courts) should change once the youth reaches 18 will be discussed. Any questions, please contact Cathy Krebs.

Assuring a successful transition: What legal issues do transitioning youth face? Monday, November 14, 1:00—2:30 p.m. Eastern
The third program in this series will focus on the issues that lawyers need to be aware of in order to effectively represent their transitioning youth clients including overlapping issues with the criminal justice system; educational issues; housing; reproductive health and more. What training and support do lawyers representing this population need? How can lawyers ensure effective transition plans? Is there a role for pro bono lawyers in this work?
