The Carrico Center is excited to continue its partnership with the University's Common Ground, the Virginia Equality Bar Association, Whitman Walker Health, and Fan Free Clinic with the Trans Legal Collaborative. Specifically, this pro bono program provides legal assistance to members of the transgender community who are seeking gender marker and name changes. On October 10th, we will co-sponsor a pro bono clinic at the Equality Virginia Transgender Information and Empowerment Summit (TIES) during which lawyers will assist trans* clients in changing their name and gender markers with the circuit court, as well as updating identification documents (e.g., driver's licenses, passports and Social Security cards).
