At the commission meeting on Monday, October 20-26 was proclaimed as "Pro bono week" to honor the work that lawyers who volunteer their time do as well as inform the public.

Pro bono week is to educate those in poverty about no-cost legal services to improve the lives of the most vulnerable in the community.

Approximately 19.3 percent of Mobile County is in poverty and one in four Alabamians experience legal problems that they can't afford.
