The Pikes Peak Pro Bono Project on Thursday, 10/10/13, is hosting a conference in Colorado Springs focusing gaps in legal services in El Paso County at a time when some in the region are unable to afford attorneys.

The free event will be held from 2-4 p.m. Thursday in the jury assembly room at the Terry R. Harris Judicial Complex, 270 South Tejon St., and will feature testimony by "local citizens" addressing their experiences and hardships with the legal system, the organization said in a news release. The hearing is expected to be attended by 4th Judicial District Chief Judge Gilbert Martinez; Colorado Supreme Court Justice Gregory J. Hobbs, Jr.; State Rep. Mark Waller-R; and District Attorney Dan May.

Co-sponsoring the event are the Colorado Access to Justice Commission, the Colorado Supreme Court, The Colorado Bar Association and the Statewide Legal Services Group.
