Every year, Nevada Legal Services celebrates and honors the work of its pro bono volunteers and supporters at the annual Champions of Justice Awards Luncheon. Separate ceremonies are held in Reno and in Las Vegas.

The Champions of Justice Awards were created to give recognition to attorneys and community leaders who significantly support the cause of access to justice for all Nevadans. The Champion of Justice Award is presented to an individual who has gone above and beyond in furtherance of equal justice. At the luncheon, awards are also presented to honor the Firm of the Year, the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year, and special recognition honorees.

Nevada Legal Services is holding the Champions of Justice Awards Luncheon in Reno on October 21, 2013 to honor the work of Northern Nevadans and in Las Vegas on October 23, 2013 to honor the work of Southern Nevadans. This year, the Champion of Justice Award will be presented to the Honorable Judge Michael Montero in Reno and to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in Las Vegas. Pro Bono Firm of the Year awards will be presented to Surratt Law Practice and Woodburn & Wedge in Reno and to Gordon Silver in Las Vegas. Pro Bono Attorney of the Year awards will be given to Muriel Skelly and Shay Wells in Reno and to Terry Johnson in Las Vegas. Special Recognition awards will be presented to the Nevada Supreme Court Law Library and Melynda Mall in Reno and to the Southern Nevada Senior Law Program in Las Vegas. Lastly, the Judge Andrew Puccinelli Memorial Award will be presented in Reno to Rendal Miller.
