MRPC 6.1 says that "Every lawyer has a professional responsibility to provide legal services to those unable to pay. A lawyer should aspire to render at least 50 hours of pro bono publico legal services per year." The Section has developed the popular Wills for Heroes program, and the MSBA is continually improving its programs and resources for lawyers providing pro bono services. The program will provide an overview of the recently released Pro Bono Case Placement Tool, and the potential use of this Tool by probate registrars throughout Minnesota. A brief description of coordinating with the Registrars and other case placement by Estate & Elder Law Services at Volunteers of America - MN, will be followed by a brief overview of the social worker process and perspective when encountering the needs of our elderly clients.

The speakers will also share their thoughts on pro bono services by MN attorneys, the need for experience in some areas, what that really means to legal service organizations, and the opportunity to use MSBA support and resources for other services, outside of your expertise, in which you wish to volunteer.
