Congressman Alcee Hastings will be the featured speaker. In addition, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Sally Heyman will present a Proclamation from the Miami-Dade County Mayor and the Miami-Dade County Commission establishing October 31, 2012 as Pro Bono Day in Miami-Dade County. The Proclamation honors the Dade County Bar Association, Dade Legal Aid, it's award-winning pro bono project "Put Something Back" and the extraordinary lawyers and Law Firm Stakeholders who generously give of their time and talent to aid the neediest members of the community. Thousands of indigent residents of Miami-Dade County require access to legal services in order to stabilize their families and allow them to live safe and productive lives. In addition to the efforts of the staff attorneys at Dade Legal Aid, attorneys in Miami-Dade County, working with "Put Something Back," donated over 21,000 hours of volunteer legal work, a value of over $5 million dollars.
