All law students are invited to attend and student organizations are invited to send representatives to the USD Law School's Pro Bono Opportunities Fair at 4 p.m. on Wed., Oct. 24, with presentations in room 102.
The opening part of the program will feature presentations by several guest speakers whose offices provide pro bono assistance to the public, often with help from law students. The next part will include brief presentations by individual student organizations which provide pro bono assistance in some form, regularly or occasionally. In addition, the student organizations are welcome to provide printed materials on tables that day throughout the School of Law.
Thus far, presenters planning to attend represent offices of East River Legal Services, Minnehaha County Public Defender and the state Unified Judicial System's (UJS) pro se helpline. Additional legal aid and service office presenters have been invited and their names will be added after replies are confirmed.
The Pro Bono Opportunities Fair is designed to provide information to law students about the substantial opportunities available in becoming involved in pro bono publico, whether working with an organization's office attorneys or as individual students helping a supervising lawyer, if required.
