This program is designed to prepare volunteer attorneys to represent low income individuals being sued for consumer debt collection, primarily credit card collection cases brought by debt buyers and original creditors. The training will provide basic information on consumer credit law and practical information on legal defenses which may be used in collection cases. The materials include forms and pleadings which may be helpful in the case. The training is free to any attorney participating in a pro bono program of the Legal Aid Society of Columbus, Southeastern Ohio Legal Services, or Columbus Bar Association.
