2011 ACLU NW Civil Liberties Conference (CLE) Featuring National ACLU Legal Director Steve Shapiro

The ACLU Northwest Civil Liberties Conference brings together legal professionals and law students from around the region to discuss current civil liberties issues. This year's conference will feature opening remarks by Federal Public Defender Steve Wax on Friday and conclude on Saturday afternoon with a Supreme Court briefing by national ACLU Legal Director Steve Shapiro.

Shapiro has been ACLU Legal Director since 1993 and has been counsel or co-counsel on more than 200 Supreme Court cases. The ACLU was involved in approximately 25% of the Supreme Court cases heard this past term. In addition to his work with the ACLU, Shapiro is also an adjunct professor of constitutional law at Columbia Law School and a frequent speaker and writer on civil liberties issues.
