A planning meeting to kick off a pilot project designed to smooth the process for courts, clerks, and pro se parties is set for October 28, 2010, at the University of South Dakota School of Law in Vermillion. State Circuit Courts in South Dakota's Unified Juducial System provide a limited number of pro se forms to people who often need some assistance in understanding how to fill out the paperwork. The pilot project is proposed in the state's First Judicial Circuit, with room to grow statewide in the future. The pilot project meeting, while not yet completely public, will feature the circuit's court administrator, the USD School of Law associate dean, and the president of the Law School's long-existing Volunteer Pro Bono Society of students.
