The Chemung County Bar Association will honor 27 area attorneys for their volunteer legal service to the poor at its Annual Pro Bono Awards Banquet. The event will be held on October 26, 2009 at noon at Hamilton Hall on the campus of Elmira College

The featured speaker for the occasion will be the Hon. Robert C. Mulvey, Administrative Judge for the Sixth Judicial District of New York. Judge Mulvey has also recently assumed the position of Co-chair of the Sixth Judicial District Pro Bono Committee. In this capacity he will lead the efforts of the New York State Judiciary to achieve access to justice for all residents of the district and to encourage pro bono service.

The Pro Bono Service Awards are meant to recognize volunteer attorneys and all of their office staff workers whose generous donations of time and skill continue the proud tradition of the legal profession to act for the public good.
