University of San Francisco (USF) School of Law will be holding a "Pro Bono Pledge" to encourage students to pledge to provide a minimum of 75 hours of law-related volunteer services to or on behalf of under-represented individuals or communities before graduation from the law school. Students who "make the pledge" will be provided with a Celebrate Pro Bono October 2009 sticker as a signal to other students that they have made the pledge. As a way to encourage students to make this commitment and to reinforce the importance of attorneys donating legal services to the poor, USF Law faculty will be wearing a National Pro Bono Week pin during their classes taking place that week and will be taking a moment in their classes to mention the importance of pro bono work and/or to highlight any pro bono work that they are involved with.
