“Civic Influence and Public Citizenship: The Legal Community’s Opportunities & Obligations in a Down Economy”

Topics:
  • Clinic
  • Pro Bono Program/Legal Services Organization

The Rules of Professional Conduct remind us of our duty as lawyers to provide free legal aid and use civic influence to help those less fortunate and without financial means. The slowdown in the economy presents a tremendous opportunity to fulfill this obligation of public citizenship through pro bono and nonprofit work. From a marketing perspective, these activities allow us to greatly enhance our professional network as we work side by side with potential employers and clients. This CLE will discuss the current economic climate as it relates to the legal profession, the importance of both pro bono work and civic involvement, provide information on available opportunities for work and involvement, and touch on the legal and ethical considerations for nonprofit board members. This is a brown bag lunch CLE -complimentary beverages and dessert will be provided courtesy of the American Arbitration Association. Please RSVP by September 22, 2009 to: serin@olympiclaw.com.
