HAP will meet with clients of the shelter and assess their legal needs, provide advice and referrals, and open cases for extended representation as needed. HAP provides free legal help in over 50 different types of civil legal cases ranging from benefits work -- SSI, welfare, medical assistance and food stamps; helping clients to restore their credit histories, helping homeless children to gain access to special educational services and SSI benefits, helping families with the resolution of family law matters, helping homeless veterans to gain access to federal pension and disability benefits, and a whole host of other services.

The clinic is for residents of the homeless shelter, and is not open to the general public. However, those wishing to participate in the clinic may do so by contacting Marsha Cohen.
