Emerging models such as the Medical-Legal Partnerships— including recent
ones with the V.A.—demonstrate that coordinating advocacy efforts with health
professionals serving veterans creates a more integrated and robust service
delivery model better poised to enable our wounded heroes to both heal and
achieve normalcy and stability with their families and in the job market. This panel
will examine the interplay of medical and legal issues affecting veterans, including
VA claims process for benefits, Veterans Courts, Medical-Legal Stand-Downs
for veterans and other dynamic efforts designed to ensure access to justice and
successful re-entry to civilian life for wounded heroes. This panel will showcase
the powerful reciprocal benefits and the dramatically improved outcomes that
these strategic partnerships achieve.
