Do you have a law degree that you are not using? Would you like to do pro bono legal work but don't know how to get started? Are you looking for a meaningful pro bono opportunity? Come to an informational meeting of the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 12 pm - 1:30 pm at Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP Offices, 5301 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Third Floor, Washington, DC 20015 (corner of Jenifer and Wisconsin; entrance on Jenifer. MUST RSVP.)

DCVLP provides training, mentoring and support to lawyers interested in representing children as custody guardians ad litem, and representing victims of domestic violence in civil protection order, divorce and custody cases. Pat Layden, a private practitioner in McAlester, Oklahoma, has volunteered many hours to promote equal access to justice in Oklahoma. He served Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma Inc. as Board member and past President of the Board and as a pro bono attorney. Pro Bono Net thanks Legal Aid Services of Oklahama (LASO) for sharing this inspiring volunteer story about his work on a hotly contested child custody case where a young mother, with a critically ill infant was involved in a custody battle over her one–year old daughter.
