This webinar will focus on asylum for lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender clients. It will discuss legal theories and framing the claim; how to interview your client and establish a case based on LGBT status; and, overcoming the one year filing deadline. It will also include a brief discussion of detention. The panelists are Keren Zwick, Managing Attorney, LGBT Immigrant Rights Initiative and Adult Detention Project, National Immigrant Justice Center; Aaron Morris, Senior Staff Attorney, Immigration Equality; and, Dan Smulian, Associate Professor of Clinical Law, Safe Harbor Project, Brooklyn Law School. Emily Good, Staff Attorney at The Advocates for Human Rights will moderate.
