AIDS Legal Referral Panel

AIDS Legal Referral Panel (San Francisco)

Organization Description

The AIDS Legal Referral Panel (ALRP) provides free and low-cost legal services to people living with HIV/AIDS in the San Francisco Bay Area. Three-quarters of ALRP clients subsist on incomes of less than $20,000 a year, and a myriad of legal issues threaten their ability to maintain shelter, food, employment, access to medical care, and freedom from discrimination. Our legal assistance helps people fulfill basic needs and alleviates the stress that threatens the health of people living with HIV.

We rely on dedicated attorneys to provide counseling and representation on virtually any civil matter to persons living with HIV/AIDS. This includes housing, wills & trusts, immigration, bankruptcy, employment, insurance, confidentiality matters, family law, government benefits, tax, and public accommodations. ALRP has over 700 volunteer attorneys who provide legal help to those who need it most - and can afford it least.

Benefits of Joining the ALRP Panel:
• Mentorship from experienced ALRP volunteer attorneys
• Over 20 free MCLE trainings a year
• Substantive legal materials and sample forms
• Free malpractice insurance for all ALRP referrals
• Patient and grateful clients

We are always looking for volunteer attorneys to help meet the multifaceted needs of our clients. To learn more about joining the ALRP Panel, please visit alrp.org/join.
